What’s on the Menu at Gio Rana’s Really Really Nice?
The menu at Gio Rana’s is a feast for both the eyes and the stomach, with each dish designed to bring a little piece of Italy to Toronto. Here's a closer look at some of the standouts:
Pappardelle
Gio Rana’s Really Really Nice offers a variety of pasta dishes, but the Pappardelle stands out for its rich, velvety texture and hearty sauce. The wide ribbons of pasta are coated in a savory, delicious sauce that leaves you wanting more. It’s a perfect option for those who love traditional Italian pasta made from scratch.
House-Made Potato Gnocchi
Another must-try is the House-Made Potato Gnocchi. These little pillows of goodness are soft, light, and melt in your mouth. Whether served with a simple sage butter sauce or a more complex ragu, these gnocchi are the definition of comfort food.
Giant Meatball and Tomato Ragu
For those who love a little bit of meat in their meal, the Giant Meatball and Tomato Ragu is a fantastic choice. This dish features a large, perfectly seasoned meatball surrounded by a robust tomato sauce that’s packed with flavor. Paired with some pasta or just on its own, it’s a true classic.
Braised Veal Ossobuco
If you’re in the mood for something tender and rich, the Braised Veal Ossobuco is an excellent option. The veal is slow-cooked to perfection, soaking up all the flavors of the sauce, making it fall-off-the-bone tender.
Classic House-Made Tiramisu
No Italian meal is complete without a dessert, and Gio Rana’s really delivers with their Classic House-Made Tiramisu. Light, creamy, and perfectly sweetened, it’s the ideal way to end your meal on a high note.
Linguine with Shrimp, Clams & Mussels
For seafood lovers, the Linguine with Shrimp, Clams & Mussels is a standout dish. The linguine is perfectly al dente, and the seafood is fresh, briny, and delicious. The combination of garlic, white wine, and herbs ties everything together beautifully.
Other Menu Highlights
If you’re not quite sure where to start, here are a few more menu items worth mentioning:
Involtini Pulled Pork: Tender, flavorful pulled pork wrapped in a delicate Italian roll.
Mezzi Rigatoni: Pasta with a hearty sauce that feels like a warm hug in a bowl.
Sautéed Rapini: A great side dish that offers a little bitterness to balance the richness of the mains.

Flourless Chocolate Cake: Rich, dense, and incredibly satisfying.
Panna Cotta: Creamy, light, and served with fresh fruit.

This place is a must. We come to Toronto once a summer and we don't miss this place. The meatball, the calamari was probably the best I've ever had in my life. The osabuko The seafood linguni, the Panna Cotta, you cannot go wrong with whatever you order..
I had the Arancini balls, tried the Bronzino, the gnocchi and the mushroom pappardelle. Everything was good aside from the gnocchi. The tomato sauce tasted like ketchup. Like the sauce was cooked for too long, and they did remove them from our bill. For a family style restaurant, I would still recommended it. It’s really lively and, it’s nice for a date too. Though my preference is always fresh pasta, which would be my pick over Gio.
Absolutely delicious food. The pasta is definitely the star of the show and cannot be missed. My only comment not so glowing is that the cocktails are very sweet - so stick to the wine, beer and digestivo list and you are golden.
Meatball: 5/5 must have Calamari: 5/5 if you like calamari. The veggies/peppers that come with it is a nice touch too Cod with Pistachio: 4/5 fish was good but not feeling that pistachio that much Rigatoni: 5/5 our fave pasta here
Walked in on a Thursday evening with my wife and 10-month old (they don’t take resos for groups less than 5). Place was packed. About a 25 minute wait for a table. Service was solid - they checked our stroller and the staff felt warm and friendly. Ambience is great. Lot of fun decorations and good music. We ordered the calamari, risotto balls, gnocchi, and ossobuco. I was super excited for the food to come. It was a decent meal; just no WOW factor and the seasoning was lacking. For example, the ossobucco was meat in gravy with a couple of mushrooms — I would strongly consider serving that dish with something starchy (like mashed potatoes or polenta) for balance. I’d come back to give it another chance if in the area.
